Meet the main character of one of my recent book ideas. ^^ He currently doesn't have a name, but I'm working on it.
The title of the book is "Heartless". It's a first-person-perspective story that revolves a lot around super-natural stuff, post-armageddon ideas, and the bible verses Matthew 19:26 and Luke 1:37. There's a few other verses too, but I have to look through my (Great) Grampa Mitchel and (Great) Gramma Harriett's stuff. I know they're in the albums somewhere....
Anyway, I got the idea for the book from the drawing as I was drawing it and listening to the bands Newsboys, DC Talk, Linkin Park, and Red. I got the idea for the drawing trying to draw something else XD It came out like this instead.
Before I consider posting the book online, I'm wanting to try and get it completely written and published first. I'm not sure how long it's going to be, but it's not going to be a series that I know of. And I'll see how much more drawings I can do to help better explain the general concept of the title. It's not difficult to explain by any means, but it could be kinda hard to understand from a certain standpoint. So I'll be doing something for that later.
The buildings were actually the most difficult part of this.... trying to mix the colors right for each roof, walls, and windows was a major pain. The clothing was the second hardest cuz I just plain had issues coming up with colors that would fit. Purple and blue seemed to be my best bet. I mixed red into some of it for the effect of blood. Believe it or not, it's not someone elses, it's the character's. (Notice there's no blood on the sword. I did that for a reason, it's not a mistake).
The sky came out looking alright. Though I was concerned at first cuz I only had 4 colors to work with (blazin' blue, black, red umber, redwood, custard (yeah, some of the colors have weird names.)) My main goal for the clouds was to get the wind effect and have them look like they're being blown to the left of the page. Same with the leaves. I used the glow to bring those out of the black since otherwise they would blend in too much.
Something I noticed about this style of artwork (colored pencil) is I actually like it a lot more than painting ^^ Cross-pollinating the colors is really fun cuz it brings out shine and space.
Tell me, does anyone else notice how much of a contrast this drawing is to the last anthro one I made? "Rhythm of the Heart" seems to have a brighter mood to it, doesn't it?
