Lane Frost by Dragon-Art14 Lane Frost by Dragon-Art14
Digi paints of people: a thousand times easier to pull off than digi paints of animals XD
Since I was doing something similar to this (with the same pic) in my Digital Graphic Design class, I decided to do this when I was home. I've had this done for a few days now, but I've been swamped with schoolwork so I haven't had time to post it. I'll be posting the other work I did with this in my class later this week. :)

Why did I use Lane Frost for the project? Well, Lane was a friend of my mom and dad. Basically, a friend of the family ^^ I never met him though. He died in '89 after he rode the bull named "Bad Medicine" (which is the bull that killed him, mind you). Which is 6 years before I was born and 3 years before my brother Dillon was born. So neither of us got to know him. My dad used to hang around Lane, Tuff (Hedeman), and Cody (Lambert) and several other cowboys (including Clay O' Brian Cooper and Allen Bach) all the time when he and Lane were alive. After him and Dad died, everyone just basically split up and we haven't heard from any of them since.
Real shame, idn't it? It's like they only had Lane and Dad in common with us and once that's gone, me and my family are forgotten like dust in the wind......
Another reason I chose Lane was because he's a bit of an inspiration to me :) I don't go bull riding but, like Lane did, I'm following my dreams. Don't get me wrong, I fancy the idea of going to see rodeo's every once in a while (when I have the chance). I've only seen a recording from the rodeo in '86 that I have on tape so far and the championship rodeo from earlier this month, but I'm workin' on gettin' myself to a live rodeo sooner or later :)
One thing I want to be able to do one day, is get in touch with everyone else again. I can't really explain why, I just have for the past couple years. No luck yet, but hopefully one day luck will come my way.
Lane certainly left a legacy that I'll not soon forget, that's for sure.

Also, if you have seen the movie "8 Seconds", this is not, I repeat: NOT the actor! This is the real Lane Frost. Freaky resemblance right? XD

EDIT: I did NOT photo-manip this! I digi-painted it from scratch, and it was a real pain in the rear! I just don't do super detailed stuff all the time in digital work cuz I either don't have the time or am just to lazy to work that hard some days. Same goes for the other realistic digi work I have that has this posted in the descriptions!
Just thought I'd make that clear... Bu

software: Photoshop
time: few days
tools: smudge, paintbrush, color sampler, dodge, burn

I love this. It makes me cry every time I think of him, he was the best damn bull rider there ever was. I have the movie 8 Seconds and Luke Perry does look a lot like Lane. I love Lane Frost, he is defiantly a very good role model for people. I've always admired bull riders like Lane Frost and his friend Tuff Hedeman.

Thank you :) Glad you like it. I know right? He sure was.
Yeah, it's too bad there aren't more role models like them, cuz a lot of people could learn a thing or two.

BTW, we need to use a visual aide for the speech, and your painting is the best I've been able to find for a portrait for Lane. Would you mind if I used it for my speech? I'd make sure to have you in my reference page for visual aide.

The bull's name was Taking Care of Business....or had the name been changed to/from Bad Medicine?

It had to have been changed, because that's what I read on the memorial site for Lane Frost.

Is that the lanefrost.com website? Sorry, I'm not trying to be a rag. I'm just actually currently working on a public speech on Lane Frost for one of my college classes, and I want to make sure that I'm not wrong, lol. Make me look pretty stupid if I did the speech and said the wrong name for the bull who killed him. I'm reading on the lanefrost.com website that it was Bad Company's bull named "Taking Care of Business", but his name had been changed for just that rodeo to K Walsh in order to commemorate another former bull rider.

This is where I'm getting the information from anyways: [link]

I looked and I'm not sure. It's been a while since I looked anything up about Lane. If it is the same site, then they changed the information on it because what it's saying now is not what it said the last time (about a year ago).
I suppose the bull's name was changed, because I remember it as "Bad Medicine" because that's what the article in the newspaper said back then (my sister kept the article, so that's how I know what it says). It's name might have been changed because of a rule that basically states if a bull kills its rider it has to be put down, and the owners probably didn't want that to happen. If you want to use the name from that site, you can because I don't think it'll cost you if that's what everyone else is saying now and it technically wouldn't be wrong. I just know what I've been taught because of my dad's history with Lane and the others.
